Developmental Anomalies of Bronchial Tree: A Multidetector Computerized Tomography Study International Journal of Morphology
Ulusoy,Mahinur; Kivrak,Ali Sami; Uysal,Ismihan Ilknur; Karabulut,Ahmet Kagan; Paksoy,Yahya; Fazliogullari,Zeliha.
Anomalies of the bronchial tree may cause recurrent acute pulmonary infection and persistent obstruction symptoms. The developmental anomalies of the bronchial tree were presented mostly as case reports with an accompanying anomaly. However in this study, these anomalies were detected in multidetector computerized tomography (MDCT) images which have no reported pathology. Thoracic MDCT images of 400 patients (0-74 years old, 224 male and 176 female) were evaluated. Four tracheal bronchus (1%) were detected. Three of them were displaced type, one of them was pig bronchus. And two accessory cardiac bronchus (0,5%) originated from medial wall of the intermediate bronchus were detected. According to our findings, incidence of tracheal bronchus and accessory...

Lobation and bronchopulmonary segmentation of Callithrix jacchus (Linnaeus, 1758) Biota Neotropica
Falcão,Brunna Muniz Rodrigues; Vieira,Ana Karoline Rocha; Souza,Joyce Galvão de; Carreiro,Artur da Nóbrega; Araújo,Débora Vitória Fernandes de; Santos,José Rômulo Soares dos; Menezes,Danilo José Ayres de; Medeiros,Gildenor Xavier.
Abstract The common marmoset (Callithrix jacchus) are small primates belonging to the family Cebidae, subfamily Callitrichinae and are the most well-known and common in adaptation to captivity. The scarcity of data in the literature on the anatomy of these marmosets and wild animals hinders the application of appropriate anesthetic and surgical procedures and therapeutics. In order to understand the anatomic variations in the lobation and bronchopulmonary segmentation the lungs were dissected from nine adult common marmoset (Callithrix jacchus) corpses, five males and four females. In the marmosets, the right lung presented cranial lobe, middle lobe, caudal lobe and accessory lobe while the left lung presented cranial and caudal lobes. The fissures were...

Ontogenetic changes in the fractal geometry of the bronchial tree in Rattus norvegicus Biol. Res.
CANALS,MAURICIO; OLIVARES,RICARDO; LABRA,FABIAN; NOVOA,FRANCISCO F.
Respiration and metabolism change dramatically over the course of the development of vertebrates. In mammals these changes may be ascribed to organogenesis and differentiation of structures involved in gas exchange and transport and the increase in size. Since young as well as mature individuals must be well-designed if the species is to survive, the physiological changes during the development should be matched with geometrical or structural adjustments of the respiratory system. The aim of this study was to evaluate changes in the fractal geometry of the bronchial tree during the postnatal development of the rat. The average fractal dimension of the bronchial tree of the rats was 1.587, but that of juveniles was larger than that of the adults. We found...
